After a four day hiatus due to severe flooding last month, Meals on Wheels of Boulder resumed home delivery service to our clients from temporary office and kitchen facilities at East Boulder Senior Center.
According to executive director Francea Phillips, “The city of Boulder has been most gracious in making space available to accommodate kitchen and office personnel and volunteers. City staff has restored our phone and internet service, allowing us to set up near normal operations.
“We would be grateful for any donations to purchase food to replace that which we discarded when we evacuated. We expect to discard even more left in refrigerators and freezers when we return. In addition, we need funds for new computers or computer repair, to replace damaged office supplies and who knows what else?”
West Boulder Senior Center and Café Classico were closed for up to two weeks. There are no lunches served and no Tuesday night dinners until further notice. Meals on Wheels of Boulder will let the public know when conditions allow a return to West Boulder to resume operations as before. For status updates, please visit www.mowboulder.org. The public may donate on the website by clicking on the “Donate Now” button. The phone number is 303-441-3908 or email info@mowboulder.org. The address at East Boulder Senior Center is located at 5660 Sioux Dr.
Meals on Wheels of Boulder was founded in 1969 and has prepared and served more than 1.85 million meals since its inception. Its mission is to provide tasty, nutritious fully prepared meals to our Boulder neighbors who need the service, regardless of age or income.
